Need some advice, Mac or PC

Hello, I've went on newegg.com and put together some parts to build a PC. I'm looking for something fast and that can multitask. So far im looking at a ASUS M5A88-V EVO AM3+ AMD 880G AMD Mobo, AMD FX-6100 Zambezi 3.3GHz CPU, COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power Plus RS500-PCARD3-US 500W ATX12V v2.3 Power Supply, (2) Mushkin Enhanced Radioactive 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM, HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000.D HDS721010DLE630 (0F13180) 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" HDD, ASUS Black Blu-ray Burner and ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 92mm Fluid Dynamic CPU Cooler. I'm probably going to need to change a few things about it like power supply and CPU cooler and possibly fans. But I'm slowly working my way into audio engineering and I know macs are best for entertainment and media production but I kinda wanted to stick to a PC. Right now I'm of the opinion if I'm going to spend the price of a mac maybe I should get one. Considering I'm already very familiar with Windows and Linux I'm stuck on what I should buy. Any help?
 
according to the forum rules, we can not talk about hackintosh systems.

If you need OSX, go MAC, otherwise you get more computer for less money from a PC.

I didnt see that specifically laid out in the forum rules. The website I linked him to strictly prohibits the discussion of all things warez related. All software must be legitimate or the boot loader will not function correctly. The only thing making a hackintosh breaks is the User agreement. All tonymac systems are Vanilla kernals, meaning it is a true version of OSX and the proprietary code of OSX is untouched, meaning therefor it is perfectly legal. If a moderator sees a problem with it, they will delete it.

it is technically illegal to discuss as breaking the EULA is equal to contract violation, which is against the law.
 
Just be aware that once you buy a mac, that's all you get. No upgrading in the future. With a PC, you can upgrade everything according to your needs.
 
he can buy a mac, or buy a hackintosh. We just can't help him with creating or repairing a hackintosh if we know it is a hackintosh.

You flat out can not upgrade to current generation graphics, like GTX580 or HD7970.There is no driver support for it. Also, you will probably void your warranty if you use non apple parts for anything but the RAM.

Mhhh nope on the warrenty. The 580 works on Lion, and the 7970 does too.

edit: Well, not yet anyways. I thought they both worked but after checking, Apple will support the 7970 in the next update. And the 580 has third party drivers.

well that has changed recently. When I checked a while back, they didn't have driver support. But anyway you go about it, the MAC is limited in what it can take.
OSX may be ok, but it is just an expensive option to avoid windows. Every way you go about it, from warranty to build quality to factory options, you will always be better off with a PC and a Linux (also Unix Based.)
Look at it like this, I will guarantee that for 5k you could build a 10x better Alienware system than the equalivant MAC of that price, and Alienware is known to be more expensive than other quality PC companies.

I am not saying that MAC is bad, but rather there are always better options. I think the "MAC club" and brand loyalty have done a pretty good job of running a smear campaign against PC, but it is pretty mush all Propaganda.
 
Kinda pointless to get a $400+ graphics card when you can't run a lot of games on OSX.

(Yes, I know that a lot of games do, and support is rising, but its still limited.)
 
I've looked into "hackingtosh" builds and that just something im not really comfortable with messing with.

Yeah i thought about that but how hard would it be to build a PC or audio and video production. From what I've herd Macs are better suited for that and I don't know how many people use PCs for that or if it even would be worth it.
 
I think ill stick with a PC. Like @Ischinel said it depends on feature or upgrades. So ill probly go with upgrade :D Thanks your the help and inputs.
 
I also need some help on making sure ive got all the parts i need (except case) and getting the right power supply. Ive tried the asus power supply calculator and the outer vision calculator and they dont seem to have some of the components on my mobo. I picked out a video card for it will it bypass the onboard video card or is that something i have to configure in the BIOS?
