Need some good suggestions for new laptop

I'm looking for something no more than around $1200. I want to get the best for my money pretty much. I'm always very fanatical about having the best of the best in my spending range, which is why it takes me forever to decide on an item to buy. I will be using the computer for many programming related tasks as well as lots of music/media, and a bit of gaming. What would you guys recommend?
 
Thanks! I was thinking of going with Asus because I've heard good things about them. Still open for more suggestions/opinions if anyone has them. Especially if someone knows of a good deal going on.
 
People will disagree with this statement, but i absolutely love my DELL

17" XPS
Intel i7 - 2720QM @ 2.2Ghz
NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M
16GB DDR3 Samsung
1920x1080 3D Monitor (NVIDIA 3D)

I have found that a lot of people on this forum don't think highly of DELL, but so far i love mine, runs great, temps ok, no problems at this point. *Plus i got one hell of a deal through work*

But i know Acer is decent if you get the right hardware with it.
 
The new DELL XPS 15" or 17" - well worth the money. I got a 17" (1920x1080), 16GB RAM, 3GB Nvidia 555, 750GB HGG model for USD 1350, no BD drive - you can't beat that. I got it in Germany about a month ago - It's awesome!
