Need some Great Recommendations please..

So, it's been a while since i've played any games on my PC. Probably the last game i played was Bioshock which was amazing. And a little Battlefield 2142 online.

Well i beat Bioshock, and Battlefield just is sort of uninteresting to me now.

I work a 9-5, and sometimes when i come home im bored and think it would be nice to have a cool game to play, maybe a game that is both a singleplayer and a great online game to play with other people.

Ive played WOW, and stopped at level 46 or so, Fun game. its just way to life consuming i guess. I cant justify spending 15/month for something i play on and off.

I'm looking for something like FPS maybe or a great RPG.

you can try battlefield heroes. that was a fun game before you had to buy everything... might be worth a shot for a casual player.
 
Buy the orange box if you don't have it already, definitely worth it for the games you get, COD4 is a great fps, mass effect is a really good rpg as well as fallout 3 and oblivion, also I really like l4d for an fps.
 
yea i beat orange box a long time ago when it came out, COD4 sounds like a good choice, ive heard good things about Mass Effect and Fallout 3 i might have to check those out.

Oblivion i own for Xbox, and i guess just wasnt my thing.
 
cod waw, cod4 is getting very tedious with all the bunny hopping and general noobness!

i played cod4 in a clan for months then switched to cod waw and the multi player is much much better
 
if you like Bioshock's atmosphere and rpg elements, and bf2142's tactics you'll love stalker, both clearsky and shadow of chrenobyl are among the best games I've played.
 
those stalker games look pretty rad. A lot of the times i base whether or not i buy game on www.gamespot.com 's rating of the game.. is it safe to say, anything rated a 7 or above is worth buying?
 
Are you interested in RTS? Warcraft III is an awesome game, in every aspect, it's basically a blend of RTS/RPG since you get to use "Heroes" which level up and stuff.

Starcraft II is about to come out (supposedly) this winter.
 
you can't really trust ratings because everyones idea of a good game is different. If i had to make those ratings portal would be at the top, and it isn't, but hey ho, not everyone sees the light :P

I would wait for MW2 to come out. If you are only going to be getting 1 game, wait for it to be out for a while, see what people who have and have played it say and if they say it sucks get CoD4 or world at war.

If you don't want a coD game, from the list you gave of possible choices, fallout 3 is amazing. Even though it isn't multiplayer the replayability is great because of the console commands and the mods and the huge size and endless possibilities of it, aswell as all of the cool hidden stuff here and there.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GOTY - Best RPG ever made
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion GOTY - Not as good as Morrowind but it's still amazing and worth the 20$ : P
Fallout 3 GOTY (comes out in October :D) - Best RPG with guns (This is my favourite game and I suggest you get it if you like RPGs and FPS.)

stalker games got poor ratings because they where littered with bugs at the release, if you read most of the reviews you'll find that they are well loved :)
