Need some help with overclocking 8800GT

okay so I'm planning to overclock my graphics card but I'm really not familiar with the whole process. My graphics card is the Galaxy 8800GT 512mb.

so far I downloaded rivatuner for OC'ing and atitool for artifacts

the stock specs are 600mhz, 1500 shaders, and memory set at 1800.

I'm not exactly sure how much I should OC. Can someone suggest some good and safe numbers?

So, my questions are should I have to up my volts? And if so, do I do that via BIOS in PCI-E volts or volt modding the card itself (the card has it built on). Also, when I change the clocks on Rivatuner, it has like Performance 3D and like 2 other settings. Do I change it for all 3?

Also, what kind of effects would OC'ing have on the health of my card, if at all? If someone could give me some advice and how-to on the whole process, that would be great

Thanks!

not familliar with OCing an Nvidia card, but to answer your question about how much to OC it, you should increase it little by little and run a graphics benchmarker like 3dmark06 to stress the card and see if you have a failure, or if it runs to hot. once you get to that point, knock it down a little and it should be alright :) that's the same OCing procedure for most things.

Usually, OCing Nvidia VGA's comes from the driver itself. If you driver does not allow you to do it, try downloading the newest version.
