need some help with pc requirements

I am sorry to say i am almost completely computer illiterate. i know embarrassing but what can i say i hardly use my pc. I currently have a dinasaur running windows xp and memory somewhere in the mid hundreds,(mb) not (gb) i know i really did not know how bad that was until recently. my pc needs are basic. I would like to get instant movie downloads from netflix,(right now i can't) and be able to play starcraft 2 when its released. i believe i have to have windows home premium for the netflix uses. i don't have any idea how much memory i need or what brand to get. If you are kind enough to respond you should know, i will not purchase a used computer. it must be new and from a store i can look up online and get reviews on. I am not a gamer, at the moment i only play starcraft, and probably will not purchase any more games after i get starcraft 2 so a good gaming pc is unwanted and completely useless to someone like me. CHEAP and RELIABLE are what i really need. i do use wi-fi but only every couple days to check netflix. I know how boring i am but please help. around 550.00 is the most i would be willing to invest becouse as i said any better would be wasteful. cheaper than 550.00 would be even better. Thanks for taking your time even if you don't respond, i do appreciate it.

What is the min. requirement for playing starcraft 2??
Anyway, I just give you a list which suit your budget, you'll need to check the requirement before you order.

i have not been able to get system requirements for starcraft 2 yet, but i imagine its going to be pretty advanced. when i started reading your reply i thought the amd phenom II was a computer, but when i got to the end i realized it was a put the pieces together. thanks for your time and input, would my current micron computer shell work for all that stuff or would i need to get a new shell. my case has a duel fans that really keeps it cool. the shell is just under 17"H/ a little over 6"W/ and a little over17"front to back. its big but it never gets hot.
