hi everyone.

dont laugh,i use a amd k-2 processor in my pc,it does the job for me!

anyway,my problem is if my pc has been off-no power at all to it for severals hours or more-when i first switch it on,it says on the screen it is running at 250mhz which is HALF the value that the settings are set to ie it should be 500MHz it is running at.

now if i let it load up at 250mhz,then simply restart the computer,it will load up at 500mhz everytime thereafter, until it has been off for hours as i say.

any ideas on what the problem is?

if i hit DEL at start, loads up with blue screen and under cpu settings it is always set to 5x 100mhz which=500mhz.

bit puzzled by it.

i am quite good with computers(not expert!)so any info is appreciated.the cpu is not overclocked from what i believe.

regards.

If it does this after it's been off for a bit, it sounds like it's a CMOS battery problem. You probably just need to replace it and it should remember it's settings them. Many times computers have a failsafe option they go to when the battery runs out(IE 250MHz :P) Is your time still correct?
