Need some input on a Media PC build

Dont have a need for a gaming rig, that's what my XBox 360 is for:D However, my current AMD processor and 2GB of RAM machine is sucking as far as editing videos, playing HD videos and multitasking. I am thinking about going the Dell XPS Studio route or building my own setup, what do you guys think?

along with what you want to spend and current country, what is your current system you want to replace, may just need a simple gpu and psu, or a cpu too but i doubt that for this purpose.

what is your budget thow, we need to know how much you are willing to spend so we know what parts to recommend.

This PC im on has a AMD Sempron LE-1250 (2.2GHz), 2 GB of RAM and Vista's 64bit OS. Id like to go with a Intel i5, Mid-tower, at least a 1GB graphics card, the most RAM I can get away with, and stay with the 64 bit Vista OS, with at least 2 TB or more of drive space.

ok, that's more than enough for a great system, even a gaming system if you want to do that some, there are a ton of nice free to plays and for christmas steam makes it cheap as crap to get into comp. gaming, but i'll make a list for you, and btw you may have to get win7 cuz the os you currently use is connected to the motherboard and won't work on others, and idk if you can get it to transfer. and would you like to get the best you can for 1k, or would you like to just get a good comp. that'll last a while and save on what you can.

Have you ever had issues with damaged PC parts from NewEgg? I mean, I would hate to order that and when it arrived have the mobo, video card or something else damaged during shipping.

parts can arrive dead, but it is beyond rare, and newegg is great at replacing things that arrive damaged, but i think you have to pay return shipping, and i'm almost done, but you can look for a case, it's a personal pref. thing so i'll let you, can get a regular case or they do have media canter cases.

A mid-tower case is what I have now, nothing fancy (no LED's, see thru sides etc.)

Thanks for your help, the combo you linked definitely meets my requirements.

this will beat the other in speed, and although the gfx card is worde, it is still more than needed to watch an hd movie on 1080i perfectly smooth, that really doesn't take much really.

ok, co the 2 hard-drive will allow you to go raid 0 which will make them like 1, but since it has 2 different connectors and can go almost 2 times the speed, and the ssd will allow you to boot in about half a sec, and if you make it hibernat it will boot almost spontaniously, thay are increadibly fast.

1) newegg is great at replacing things that arrive damaged, but i think you have to pay return shipping
2) the ssd will allow you to boot in about half a sec, and if you make it hibernat it will boot almost spontaniously

1) Newegg has good customer service. They will send you a pre-paid shipping label if something needs to be returned.

2) You don't want hybernation enabled with a SSD.

oh true, ssd's will break eventually if you continuosly install and uninstall things to them, so browsers and stuff like that aren't recommended, but a game or 2 you play alot and a os and a few well used programs are what you'd want on it.
