Need to buy a new desktop, or build

I am needing to buy a new desk top to run the current program of Auto CAD, Inventor, and solid works with 3D. I also want to run Windows or better, microsoft office and some games and a little music. What can you guys recommend for me? Thanks

If you post a budget,
if or anything you already have,
and where you are so we know where you can buy from,

recommendations can be made.

500-600 dollars American. I am in Texas ,D-FW. I have dabbled in electronics a little but am no engineer. Do you think I could pull it off for the first time. I have put electronics together for all my RC cars, airplanes, and helis. Or I will also except any recommendations on builders. I was pointed in this direction by a computer guy on a fishing forum, lol.

Researching this tool it seems to be a great all around "average" CPU. With tons of room to upgrade. BUT, has a weak power supply. If I can build better for the same money I am for that. Thanks

"Sorry, the page you requested was not found."

For this budget, it would be better you build it yourself

No need for that. It's not that difficult. Start here::
http://www.computerforum.com/104641-how-build-computer-step-step-photos.html

I have no interest in the BB pc becuase we already know that it's going to be exprnsive and inferior compared to what your going to build. And their CS for pc's is pretty bad.

I was interested in the BB link to see the cost. Was 5-600?
Trying to find out if that's what you based the 5-600 on, or if that's what you want to spend.
Also because we need to know if it's just the tower portion w/ 7 or had other periferals you need. If it's just the tower/os then the $600 is doable for the needs you describe, but that amount is in the area where another 50-100 would go a longggg ways towards higher performance.

Also, are rebates ok?

THANKS DAISYMTC, I APPRECIATE THE LINKS AND HELP. Are both of those set ups the same, does the home built have better performance ? After calculating the cost are the same but one comes with a key board and mouse.

BENNY BOY, actually the price is 450 for the tower only. Rebates are fine, and I am willing to spend 600 on the tower alone.
What does 1 TB mean?

For your use, CPU with more core will be better. Also that one only have onboard video, which is not good enough for your use.

1TB = 1,000 gb.

Ok, some specifics could be made about that pre-built's hardware but..
For $633.57 after deals/shipping - a bit over but everything is of quality and up to date. The prebuilt isn't.
Another 6850 can be added later on if/when an uprade for that is needed. The ability to add a second doen't really add to the cost. But the gpu requirement does. What games are it going to run? The diff between a 5770 and a 6850 is only about $40-50. I say only because the 6850 uses the newer R900 series chip and has twice the memory bus.
Having a good quality mb will be used for some time means you can reinstall the oem os if you change the system drive later on(like upgrade to a solid state drive).

Thanks guys , I appreciate your help. Benny , would more hard drive help out (like 1T)? If this is sufficient for what I need right now I can upgrade at a later time. What about wireless connection? Should I go that route or use a land line? I think I read that wireless was not so great for the heavy duty stuff. As far as games I am wanting to run there are none at the moment , but that would change once I get the system.

If 500gb isn't enough right now, you could get a 1tb. 500 is a lot of space really, and I personally wouldnt want my os on a 1tb. With 1 large drive everything would be suseptable, and more than 1 drive spreads out the wear.
More hdd's are an easy upgrade. So unless you have a huge amount to store right now, I'd recommend the 500 and just get a 1 TB later on for storage.
Not sure on the wireless cards. There's probly some units that have good connection speed. Hardwired ensures full speed and nothing to buy.
Something I didn't incorporate was a flash/memory card reader/writer, if you want one of those.

Thanks again, I am looking into this and likely going to order in the next day or so.

Ok, be sure and check back before you pull the trigger to see if there's any other input, and that the deals are the same.:)

Will be ready to pull the trigger soon, since I mainly need it right now for school here at home. I will wait till mon. to see if anything pops up. I have too drive about 45 minutes both ways, and pay for day care. So, the quicker I get it I can save on gas, childcare, and time. The wife gave it the ok ,quickly,:D
