Hey new to the site, want to get a new laptop looking to spend like 1500-2000 ya no top of the line something like 14 inch screen was thinking about a dell latitude but ive heard some awful things about their customer service but then ive heard that their customer service isnt that bad with latitude their business systems, but if you check out cnets ratings idk if valid or not they rank high, but i gotta say im a college student and the business models are just lame looking ya no like the IBM's great performence but look like crap so any input would be appreciated basiacally looking for a high performance around 14 inch screen for around 1500-2000 saving money is always good so if you got a great one for less id take priority over a expensive one

I personally have had nothing but trouble with Toshiba...but also with Dells...maybe Im just unlucky XD

Some of the Toshibas I was looking at the other day looked great tho...maybe they're better now /shrug

recently Ive found that companies dont like to make powerful machines with small screens (much to my dismay). Now Im trying to get a new laptop too...but my price range is a lot lower than urs...maybe u should try going for a vaio, or an HP, som e of the new HPs are looking really nice. Only problem is any of their touch-screen models have terrible picture quality.

I know Im dancing in circles, and maye not helping much lol...but trust me Im trying XD

I don't see why people are knocking dell. Iv got 3 laptops from them over the years and never had one problem, and always received fast shipping 3 days for my newest. Also 2000 can get you alot. Check out the XPS M1330.

I'm with you on this one, haven't had one problem with my Dell, and it's an awesome laptop that would have cost me hundreds more for a comparable laptop from other places:D

Im also fond od Toshiba laptops. Actually i bought a floor model about 2 yrs ago. has slots for all the cameras.3 or 4 usb2 ports? 17" wide screen, full size keyboard, sata drive and duel layer burner. One thing though. if portability is needed then pay attention to size and weight. you wouldnt want to carry this to school. its not portable like that. i take in the backyard or garage. i have a sony 44" lcd and have it running with a wireless keyboard and mouse.
im very happy with it. I have no issues with dell. of all the manufactures dell would be at the top of the list. Goto dell website. you might want to consider refurbished. if someone orders and does not accept its considered refurbished.

something else comes to mind. whether your a programmer with something like smartcards or eproms. if you need access to a nine pin serial port forget about usb to serial. Dell is about the only one i know that still supports 9 pin serial.
i think........
