ok, i have a vantec tornado 92mm... on a fan controller, using vantec vibration dampeners.
it stays pretty quiet for the airflow it gives me but even on low its kind of loud while im not listenin to music... i mean for when im sleeping.
i thought about putting some WD40 in the bearings, but i dont like being hasty about things like that.

i figure, ask computerforum.com.
any suggestions people?

What I did to the computer in my room, is I cut the 12V fans down to 5V. I'm not sure if you should do that or not, but on a PII 333MhZ computer, it doesnt generate large amounts of heat. I'm not sure what you can do, since you have a fan controller. Maybe you can get quieter fans?
If you have an AMD processor, you can download some of their CPU drivers/software. It regulates the voltage on how much CPU power is used. My athlon 64 3700+ idles at 1000 mhz, but when it needs to, it will go up to 2.2GhZ, and everything in between. My cpu fan shuts of whenever its running less than 1200 mhz.

wow.. fan controller = control voltage. i already turned it down, from 4700rpm to about 2600rpm... its still loud. i dont want to get a quieter fan, the one i have is fine because it gives more airflow than most 120mm fans at 92mm... its just a bit loud for when im asleep (ON LOWEST FAN CONTROLLER SETTING.)
do i need to say it again? lol vibrations arent the problem, i figure its the fan motor. basically... can i put WD40 in there safely? i dont want to have to buy another vantec tornado for $15 lol...

yea, but turning it off is gay because it looks cool. besides, its not loud enough to keep me up all night. anyways, i like downloading all night... like uhhh videos from relatives. hhaha.. yea..
