Need to plug a USB device into a serial port

I see all kinds of adaptors to plug a serial device into a USB port, but not the other way around.

I have a USB foot pedal that will not work with my transcription software. It works fine for another job I have (I used it everyday), but I just cannot get it to work with this specific software. I used to have a serial foot pedal, but now have a USB foot pedal.

I either have to (a) buy a new foot pedal or (b) buy an adapter (if it exists) to plug my USB device into my serial port.

Thank you so much for your help.

You'll probably have to get another foot pedal... I don't beleive it would be as easy as just converting the USB plut to serial as it is the other way around, given the nature of USB. I mean some devices would work. Like, my cable for my old phone, it basically was just a serial cable and a USB to serial converter in one... However, seeing as that foot pedal probably doesn't work as just an 'emulated' serial port, you probably won't have any luck converting... Sorry.
