My pc wont load up windows until i reinstall EXEPLORER.EXE BROWSEUI.dll Can anyone help me where to find that file please:confused:

Hi, im using a friends PC as mine cannot open, do you mean that you just type that BROWSEUI.dll up? dont really understand, and also the only thing that i can get to open is the "Ctrl+Alt+Delete" Task Manager and run setup:msconfig which opens up and want to find what folder or file that BROWSEUI.dll is in or i maybe it cannot open but im not sure, thanks for responding ;)

You need to put the .DLL in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32

If you have trouble doing so I would just get ur windows disc and boot that up then chose the repair option then manually repair the BROWSEUI.dll

If you still have trouble post bk.

Wow your good! I did look up in that folder so it did come up, now as i loaded it onto the popup task bar it has 3 open fields to fill in eg.

File to restore: browseui(2).dll (Browse File)
Restore From: (Browse From)
Save file in: C\windows\system32\browseui(2).dll (Browse to)

Now only the Restore From is what im having trouble with now or unless i filled it in wrong, it wont proceed until all feilds are filled in

restore from -> just dump the file in C:
then enter C:\broweui(2).dll

(but im sure its only ment to be called broweui.dll)

Try it anyway

EDIT: or put the file on floppy disc or CD-R then just type the drive letter in!

I tried to dump that in C but doesnt do anything, also i could be wrong, when i opened up System32 and looked up BROWSEUI.dll there was no folder i only found a little plug-in type file which had in small caps browseui(2).dll i could not find anything else, it was the only one closes to it, it could be why its not going.

Do you have a directory in C: called i386 ??

If you do the file BROWSEUI.dll needs to go there!

Try that then post bk. Cheers

No it doesnt on C: although under sytem32 has sequals of folders with numbers on them, forgot to mention, it all started with me using system restore and i went back 2 days earlier because my CD/R drive was not working so when i was at that restore point my drive was working and i thought that i had saved its hardware change, so i restored it back to its present time and thats when it asked to reinstall BROWSEUI.dll

OK try Clt+Alt+Del and go to the Task manager then click on File at top left.
Then Select New Task (Run...) then type explorer.exe then hit return.

This (fingers crossed should get you back).

Now go into C:\WINDOWS\System32 and put that DLL in there then restart the PC. Then Post bk.

Awwwman! It didnt work, that same message popped up "Exeplorer.exe -Unable to locate component" This application has failed to start because BROWSEUI.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Bugger :(

I sorta guessed that would happen :( worth a shot though

Using another computer copy the DLL onto floppy then put the floppy into the broken PC and open the command prompt and type.

copy a:\browseui.dll c:\windows\system32\

If that dont work there is one last sorta way that i know how to do it but it requires another PC and taking the HDD out !

You serious? man i hope this floppy trick works instead! I live in New Zealand and its WAY past my bedtime, its almost 3am in the morn, il have to buy me a floppy disk 2morow well... later on today, need to fix this PC before my husband finds out ive been messing around with it, hehe. Thank you SO much for getting me this far! Really appreciate you helping me, hope to come across you again Mr PC Guru!!!

Hi Ghostkillah! got a floppy just to make sure, ive located the System32 folder, now, do i copy entire folder or just copy the BROWSEUI.dll Application Extension? and do i need any other files to attach? Not in any rush yet to perform these il wait for your reply, cheers!

No all you should need is that browseui.dll on a floppy disc. Using another PC download that file from the link. Then copy that file to floopy disc.
(MAKE SURE YOU UNZIP THE FILE FIRST BEFORE PUTTING ONTO FLOPPY)

Now turn on the PC that your having trouble with and wait for it to load up.
Then insert the floopy disc and run command prompt.
(Clt+Alt+Del then in task manager click on File then click New Task (Run...) and type command prompt then hit enter.)

In command prompt type this:

copy a:\browseui.dll c:\windows\system32\

Then hit enter!

Now remove the floppy disc and close command prompt. Press Clt+Alt+Del and get the Task manager up and click on File> New Task(Run...)

Type in explorer.exe and hit enter. Fingers crossed it should all load up then restart the PC normally.

Post back if you have any trouble.

Good luck :)

Is that a typo? If not, then looks like you've got a spyware case (and if is, then your box could probably do with a reinstall)
