need to share a large file for free

I have a lengthy video of about 50 minutes, probably a few hundred megabytes in MPEG format, and I need to share it with a friend. Is there a good free filesharing program I could use from which they could download it? Alternatively, is there a way I can put the video online for free? I don't want to break it into four segments on YouTube.
 
I might be able to help you. How many downloads are you expecting? I could create you a temporary login to my server, you could upload the file, let your friend download it, and then delete it.
 
Thanks for your offer. I might consider that. I have not yet prepared the file. I just need to share one file with one person and that's all. I need something that's not too complicated since my friend is not that computer savvy.

Well, you could upload it, and send him a modified link. So, instead of FTP:// send http://.
If you, say, zip or rar the file, than it is most likely that when he clicks on the link it will prompt the download. If it is a video, it might start playing in the browser, especially if he is using an Internet Explorer. Lt me know what you decide.
 
Okay I'm just about ready. I think I would like to keep it as a video file just to make things easier. It's about 550 MB.
