Needing a new laptop

Hey there. My desktop recently crashed and so I'm in the market for a new computer. What Ive decided is to get a laptop. Because I travel a lot to Chicago (I live in Indiana) my gf lives up there so I'd be staying with her. So I'd like to bring a laptop to game when she's working or whatever. So my first choice was Alienware but I was told you pay for the name. Then I was redirected too asus which seems pretty good. However I'm unsure what model to get. Also I've been recommended a few others.

Basically I'm wanting, something smallish, not a huge17"screen 13-15 is big enough for me. Possibly light weight but not necessary. Pretty good graphics card and CPU and ram. A DVD player. My budget is about $1100 but prefer less is possible.

The games I'm wanting to play are, star trek online, star wars online, dcuo, diablo III,the sims 3. *Thanks! Please be aware I know nothing when it comes to hardware :.(

ASUS Zenbook seems to be right in your price range and is an absolutely wonderful computer, it's very light, small and you can get an i5-i7 and I think it comes standard with 4GB ram but easily upgradable.

I would look into that to start with.

It's my favorite laptop out right now.

Where would I look this up at? And could i upgrade it online or would I have to purchase the parts and then take it somewhere to have installed?

The games are listed in the first post :). But I'll relist lol.
star trek online
Star wars the old republic
DiabloIII
The sims supernatural/sims 3
Starcraft II
Dcuo
Skyrim

They don't need to be on ultra mode but good with no lag.

with intel graphics you are not going to be doing much gaming. Maybe on the lowest settings, but some game are flat not going to run at all.

With my i5 and 4GB ram I played lots of COD on max settings along with GTA IV with no problems and no lag.

i7 > i5 when it comes to gaming too

at what resolution? Because HD3000 on the 2600k is far from touching max on MW3 @ 1366*768 resolution. And It is not exactly the hardest game to max, a 7900m GTX will max it at 1200p.

It was max resolution, I was playing on my computer before I could afford my PS3 lol

I suggest you to go for DELL laptop as DELL offers good configuration laptop in affordable price. Moreover, DELL has huge no. of service centers worldwide.

a DELL for gaming? lol

Don't joke about it. My Precision M90 kicks butt gaming at least with DX9 stuff (Graphics card is that old. 7900m GTX).

And Unless I am missing something that seems unlikely. I will check it again when I get home if I can be arsed to pull the 480. Well I really need to anyway to clean it out.

Resolution of screen size. I would always take my 17" 1200p M90 over the 19" 720p desktop monitor if given the chance. However it won't run BF3. :(
