Needs help: Building own PC

I was going to buy a Dell XPS 7100 but after talking to some people and everyone here tells me to build a custom computer i thought id do it

I know how to build a computer i just dont know what parts i should use.

My budget is at $750 max and the PC will be used for games like WoW and MW2 and other similar FPS.

If anybody could maybe give me a list of good parts that would keep me under 750 that would be great because when i go and research i cannot find anything thing that i think is good for under that, so i thought id ask you guys

Also i was wondering, does the case make a difference if its a gaming computer or not?

Ther case does make a difference for cooling, ease of use and cable management.

Larger case means you can get more fans and larger cooling sollutions, which will keep components cooler

A larger case also makes it much easier to actually build the computer, because you have more room to work, and also some cases have really useful features, like side mounted hard drive bays, toolless mounting etc, which all make it even more straight forward

And good cable management makes your computer more aesthetically pleaseing, and also prevents restriction of airflow, which will keep your components even cooler

Total cost before rebates/shipping - $750

Case won't affect performance, but good cooling is essential. Also you want a case that looks good and is easy to build a PC in.
