What is the must have ports for a motherboard. There are many differant ports, as we all know with out usb ports we would be lost, remember the ps/2 mouse and key board adapters and how you have to restart windows if they get accidently get unpluged? Well you get the point. So elaberate on conection ports you would hate for your pc not to have. And others that just take up space.

USB is essential. Don't care for PS/2 anymore. Could live without onboard audio unless my soundcard died. Integrated video is nice if your main card fails so VGA/DVI/HDMI. Old serial/printer ports not needed either.

In 2010, I'd consider USB3.0 "essential" with all the new devices starting to use the interface (external hard drives benefit the most from this, flash drives as well)

I agree, for the most part, on board audio cards suck. The first devices using USB's SuperSpeed spec came out this year, so it's exciting to see what happens with this new technology.

Oh, come on is that it. No one is gonna mention firewire, sata, or crossfire. Hmm i guess i also forgot to mention witch bus is better then another. I didnt think i would have to type bus if i typed usb but i guess so. Come on peeps elaberate. This is a great question for people looking for a motherboard.

Firewire and eSata, forgot about those. Nice to have, but i rarely use them. Everything else you mentioned is not a port on a motherboard rear panel ;)
