Nehalem CPUs

I just read an article about Amd's X4.
Original Article Found Here : http://www.maximumpc.com/article/amd_s_new_x4_quad_core

And in the last paragraph it says "... Intel is already demonstrating fully functional Nehalem CPUs and says they’re on track to launch later this year."

Are Nehalems really coming out this year .. ?
I really dont feel like buying a Q9450 and then upgrading again.
From my E6850.

Suggestions\Comments ? :)

Are they 8 Cores?

And, Are they not LGA775?

Also, I'm liking the look of the vCore, plenty of OC'ing headroom there!

And why would you have to upgrade? Is having the latest and greatest system a hobby?

If it's not, it isn't like you actually need the better processor whatsoever.

I read this review for Nehalem from anandtech, and they are saying that Nehalem 2.66GHz was 20 to 50% faster than Q9450 !!!

Thats a big performance increase over Yorkfield !!
WOAH.
I was going to get a Q9450 when the prices drop but now that just makes me drool. :D

Sounds like these will provide me with some huge price drops to upgrade my CPU. :p
Yeah hopefully when these come out the Q9xxx will be cheaper... :)

So... Don't buy a Q6700, Wait for the Nehalems?
Yeah if your going to build a new system i'd wait. :p

According to Wikipedia... Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nehalem_(microarchitecture)
The first chart says that... Auburndale & Havendale are going to have 2 cores...
Too bad their not LGA775 ... :(

I take it back then, Q6700 it is for me...
And the Q9450 is for me. :)
No, they are 4 cores with hyper-threading technology.

No they are LGA1366

And the current CPU-z can't detect nehalem accurately. Nehalem have 4x256KB L2 cache, not 4 x 32

Interesting...
^ Actually, the high-end nehalems WILL be available as a monolithic 8-core (16 logical processors).
Yeah thats going to give AMD a run for it's customers... :p
Nehalem's will be far from affordable at release.
Probably true.
And judging by how the Penryn series came out their wont be a lot of them in stock.
That is true!
Mmm hmm.. :p

It is. :p
Unfortunately it's a very expensive hobby.
why did it say they were cheaper in the chart on the first page?
Don't know.
Maybe they were misinformed...
They should be quite cheap compared to the Yorkshire though because some of their processors are part of Intel's Core 2 Extreme line instead of the Core 2 line..

Thanks guys...
Keep those answers coming.
