Neither the BIOS nor the Win 7 will recognize my new SamSung 840 PRO

Cant get my ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB to recognize my Samasung 840 Pro 256Gb SSD in the bios. When loading windows, it's not recognized as well. I'd like to set it up to run the OS and some other main prorgrams while using 2x WD 3TB IEDE drives in Raid 1.

I ran the drive in another system and it was recognized. I sent the mobo back to ASUS, but it was not fixed.

Any suggestion? Do I need a new MB that can handle running an SSD for the OD and 2x 3TB drives in Raid 1? Is the processor the shortfall?

If I have to start from scratch, I'd like some advice on where to begin...MO, CPU, etc that will support my architecture.

Make sure the SATA controller it is plugged into is enabled in the BIOS. I know on some Intel ASUS boards there are two SATA controllers (usually an Intel and a Marvell one). I'm not sure if the same is true for their AMD boards, but if the Marvell one is not being used sometimes it's disabled to increase POST speed. Go into your BIOS and make sure all of your SATA controllers are enabled.

Did you try plugging the drive into a different SATA port on the board, or did you try a different SATA cable or did you try a different power plug from your PSU?

You may need to also update the BIOS or reset the BIOS back to defaults to ensure all SATA controllers are enabled.

A few things it could be, but necessarily a bad board.

There is only 1 sata controller on that board. Yep, make sure you have a working sata data cable and power cable going to the SSD drive. Otherwise try using a different sata port. Plug in a regular sata hard drive to the power connector to make sure you can hear it spin up. Also same with the data cable. If the motherboard detects a regular hard drive using the same power and data cable then it should for the SSD.
