Netbook capability

Hi,
I currently have a mac, but am looking to buy a netbook. I need something that will allow me to download microsoft office, a transcription program for transcribing audio interviews, and a program which will allow me to store a couple of hours worth of audio recordings. I would also like to keep smartpen audio recordings on the netbook as well. Does a netbook have enough memory to do this? Thanks

Memory, yes. Speed, perhaps... Look at the processor requirements for whatever software you want to use. As long as it's a mid-range P4 with however much RAM your desired netbook possesses, you should be fine.

Netbook would cost $300, I recommend you spending $400 - 450 for a regular laptop.

You may consider one of these. It's essentially a netbook (low-power CPU, no optical drive) but larger than most (13.3") with a dual core processor. I have that exact model (though it's red with a 320GB drive) and I love it. Great battery life and much more power than your average netbook. However, it's still a good bit weaker than your average laptop.
