Netbook very,very slow-What should I do?

Have had our Acer netbook for almost a year now with no problems. The past couple of days the speed on it has gotten so slow you simply can't use it. I know nothing when it comes to netbooks but what can I do to troubleshoot and find the problem? It's getting a strong wireless signal from our other PC. Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

Are you talking internet speed or the whole netbook being slow?

Could be a virus or malware. Try looking at the Performance tab in Task Manager to see if any processes are hogging the cpu or eating up memory. Run a virus scan with your virus scanner and run a malware scanner like http://www.malwarebytes.org/.

Did a speed test and it was normal. Also did the Malwarebyts scan and it did find 4 problems. Cleared them up and did a restart and that fixed the problem. Many thanks for your help. Appreciate it.

i always like to start with a disk cleanup and degragment. any recent programs that you've downloaded?

Defrag are also highly important, I use my computer enough where when I did run Windows I would have to defrag about every 3-4 weeks. Not to mention virus scan every two weeks.
