Netbook Wireless question

Hi, I'm looking to buy a netbook possibly the Acer Aspire One or the Asus 1000 eee. There are diff pricings and it seems the only difference is that some have WLAN and some come with 802.11B/G and some with some sort of Wireless N.

So what is the difference between wlan 802.11b/g and wireless N?

I am not 100% sure about the wi-fi but I think most routers connect to b/g better than N. Get the b/g I picked it up today with my dad and we haven't had any troubles yet. Well, the Acer Aspire One. We picked it up in white with WinXp and 120 GB HDD for 399
