I'm currently working on a small home network and I've been using a Netopia 3D Reach wireless card in one of my desktops. I didn't purchase this card myself; it came bundled with our DSL package a couple of years ago.
The two laptops in the house generally have excellent connectivity to the wireless network, but when using the Netopia card in my desktop, I rarely get anything more than an 'okay' signal. I initially thought it might be a problem with my desktop so I tried the card out in my laptop. It still received a low signal.
I know this isn't a problem with location, as I've used my laptop and desktop in the exact same locations and had entirely different signal strengths on each (high on laptop, low/average on desktop).
Is the Netopia card just a piece of junk, or is there something more to this?
Thanks!
