Netwok IP confusion!

Hi there. New to the forum and hoping for some tips on setting up my network.

I'm basically wanting to extend a wireless broadband network by using 2 access points as a bridge.

My main broadband wifi router is set to 192.168.1.1

Then I have an AP set in client mode (AP1) with IP 192.168.1.2

Then I have a 15m cable connecting to another AP (AP2) which is in AP mode with IP: 192.168.1.3

Computers can connect to the second AP ok, but there is no internet (local only connection). However if I disconnect the second AP and connect the cable straight into the laptop, it works fine, internet and all!

I'm pretty sure my problem here is wrong IP set up, but I can't work out what I need to do to make it all work. I'll try to draw the system below.

Any ideas? Should I try to make it all dynamic IP?

I believe it would have something to do with the fact that you have two dchp servers. I would try going into settings on the router that doesn't work and have it not set to off. I'm not sure if thats the problem, but it will be quick to check.

Thanks, I'll try that. I don't think I have any DHCP at the moment, so will turn it on on the Broadband router and see how I get on...
