I just bought a new network adapter after the on-board one broke along with my router, for no obvious reason.
The problem is that i installed the driver of the network adapter, but i cannot get it to connect to the internet.
when i run a diagnostic it says "local area connection 2 does not have a valid ip configuration".

does anyone know whats wrong?

go into command prompt and inter ipconfig and press enter. Then look over the info to be sure that it all looks good.
You may want to reset your roughter too. I think thats what controls your ip setup.

Have you tried to use Windows "repair" option on the connection? It basically does the same as you could do from the command prompt by issuing the commands "ipconfig /release" followed by "ipconfig /renew".

If running XP click on start, click on run, type cmd and hit enter.

If running vista/w7, click on start, in the search box type cmd and hit enter.

type "ipconfig /all" without quotes and hit enter. Please post the information given. Make sure there is a space between the g and / or it won't work.
