Network Cable not working

I use wireless and my computer says "network cable not plugged in" when I troubleshoot.

There should be no network cable.

Toshiba Satellite

I'm assuming your wireless network is not working, correct?

On the bottom right of your screen next to the clock you should see a picture of a computer/monitor depending on your OS. Click on that and if you have a wireless NIC plugged in you should see a list of wireless networks. If you don't, check your keyboard or laptop for either a button or switch with the WiFi icon.

I see the button. It's F8. I push it and nothing changes.

Even when I push the function button, nothing changes.

This problem just started.

You most likely either need to press the fn key along with the F8 button to turn wireless on and off. Check device manager to make sure wireless card isn't disabled.

I don't even see wireless anything under device manger. It's like the whole thing disappeared for no reason. It worked one day. Now it doesn't.

It says Realtek RTL8102E/RTL8103E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20)

Is that wireless? Why would my wireless just disappear?

Nope, that would be for the ethernet cable. If that is the only entry under network adapters then your wireless card is shot. Are there any entries in device manager that says unknown or any that a yellow question mark/exclamation mark next to it? Also check the bios to see if there is a setting to enable/disable the wireless card and make sure its enabled.

Can you suggest a good one for my computer?

You can use any usb wireless adapter. If the laptop doesn't even recognize the card at all then either the card or pci slot the card is in is bad.
