So around a year or two a go I got some malware on my desktop (not listed below) and cleared it all out using malwarebytes, spybot S&D, and adaware.
Unfortunately something happened deep in the system, and I could no longer get internet usage. I could connect (wired) and see the connection, but the connectivity is listed as 'access to local only'. I used it for other stuff, so not having internet wasn't an issue until now.
I tried a WIFI USB adapter and had the same problem. Turns out the IP address was set to all 0's, and wouldn't reset after a number of attempts.
So. Question 1: What info can I give that can help me solve this? I know it's a software issue.
Question 2: I'm running Vista 64. If I do an upgrade to Windows 7, will it fix the problem or likely do nothing, since my settings will be the same?
Thanks!
