I have a server/client application, for some reason I cannot access my company file on the server every time I try to re establish the path by clicking on the file folder is says" \\location\ is not accessible you might not have permission to use this network resource. The Network Path Was Not Found. " I have tried to restart the server and client, I have even unplugged the router, please help.
 
That is pretty broad....

If you are trying to use the \\networkpath you must be on the same network/subnet range of the server share in question.
 
I have already established this connection the subnet is already on the client and is mapped when I put the mouse on the mapped folder the server address \trinity\\users comes up and is correct when I click on it the error message I wrote in my last thread pops up, if I right click on it it doesnt give me any options to reconnect.
 
Can you ping the server?
Try opening a command prompt and doing the following:

ping trinity

If you get a response, then perhaps someone has renamed or removed the share?
 
Yes I have pinged the server it wont respond I changed cat5 cords and also reset the router nothing works, what do you think I should try next??
 
I can acess the internet on both locations( client and server ) so I know they are communicating with other sources through the router I just cant get my client to communicate with the server.
 
Some server services are DNS dependent, but if you are doing it by IP you cannot connect, or even ping the IP then your network is the issue.
 
Is this server and the client on the same network? You mention a router, how does the router play into this? Does the client application have to bet setup to connect to a file share? Are the resources on the server even shared?
 
I purged my cache and it was successful then I pinged ,/all, and it responded that my DHCP is not enabled is this where my problem is??
 
What is handling DHCP, your router then? Are both your server and client machine set up to receive IP via DHCP?

I mean to be honest this is just going in circles, so can you please provide as much information about your set up as possible? Server OS, client OS, router and network settings, including the application you are running that needs to connect to the server?
