We have a problem with our desktop pc that is having problems with low speed, we have all same on laptop and thats keeping a constant 54.0mbps where as desktop fluctuates up and down from 24-36mbps and sometimes lower.
the desktop has a belkin wireless g 54mbps 2.4ghz and was looking at getting a 108mbps to see if this would improve the speed and keep it stable as its much slower than the laptop.

what would your opinions be please

Is it shadowed by any objects around???
Is the desktop and wireless in the same room???
Are there walls in between them???

no there not in same room probeblly about 8ft away from each other, cant understand why the desk top fluctuates where as the laptop which rubs to the same wireless device/router which is the bt home hub and never fluctuates and i can go around the house or garden with this.

Alright,

Is the computer box in a desk and the antenna is near a wall???

really that won't help, it'll make transferring files quicker, but otherwise no...... not worth it.

And the wall can make a difference..... the signal is bouncing off the wall..... and some days will be better than others.
