Network printer causes BSOD

I have a problem that Im completely stumped by.

Situation: I have a network HP LaserJet 4250 printer with 64mb of memory and when ever I print 5 or more pages of a document it causes ANY pc to blue screen, everytime no matter what pc, its the same stop error (7f I think) and begins a dump of physical memory. 4 pages does fine. This printer is on 2 servers also, A and B. B is the backup server. I can print fine from server B. No issues there. Both servers are uptodate with drivers too. I can print the same document to another LJ 4250 printer with same specs and it does fine.

What Ive done so far: Completely removed the printer from the network and re-add it with updated drivers. I updated it to the lastest firmware. I tried swapping out memory on the printer.

What I havent done: Replaced the jetdirect card if its not embedded. I cant remember. Call Hp for support.

I dont know what else to do. Im almost certain it has nothing to do with the pcs I try to print from. They are all different models with different specs and I must have tried 5 of them. Has anyone run into a situation like this? I really need help.

I think it does have a jet direct card. I would connect the printer locally to a pc using the lpt port or usb. See how the printer prints. You say you have the printer on " a server " , that confusses me. Please explain. If you are using the jet direct you have a streight through cable going to a hub or router, switch ... etc. If you have a cat5 cable going from the printer to a network card on the server you need a cross over cable. Or do you have a cable going from the printer to a hub then a cat5 going to each server:confused:

The print que is a on server. I work for a very large company so of course we use network printers. Im sure you know how a large company network is setup. I never thought of connecting it locally to a pc so Ill try that.

just install on the server with a usb port or lpt and share the printer, you want to use something that will have a static ip and be on all the time..... or better yet buy a dedicated hp print server.

yes i know how big company networks are set up, i would still like to know how your network is cable as far as this one printer and the 2 servers:)

Connected it locally and it still blue screens. So throw all the networking crap out the window. The problem cant lie there.

Try this

1) Set up the printer as an IP printer and print directly to the IP, this will bypass any driver issue

2) Update the drivers

3) Get rid of jet direct, its lame and get a real print server solution

How is your jet direct set up? does it print by IP or by MAC address? Have you updated the jet direct software?
