Recently bought a new desktop with XP. I'm looking for the easiest and cheapest way to get files from my old desktop running Win98 to the new one.

I've heard software like PC Mover are not the best. What other options do I have?

Thanks!
Ryan

cheapest way would be to remove the HD out of your 98 box and slave it into the new XP box and just do HD to HD transfer, then wipe that HD out, and keep it in there for back ups, or take it out and trash it.

What's wrong with the default network setup? My brother's laptop has 98 on it and he can access my computer(XP) no prob...

Though, if you don't have the hardware, why not just remove the old HD and slave it in the new PC?

The fastest thing would be to slave the drive in the new pc i did a transfer over the network using workgroups and if you are going to be transfering a lot of files then do not try to do the network unless you want to wait a day lol

Would using a USB flash drive be a good alternative?

Thanks again for the help!

Depends on the size of the flash drive, how much data you want to be transferred, and if your using USB 2.0 or 1.1 on either of the computers.
