What would be the easiest way to network as I was going to use the current AMD (athlon xp 2800+) or the Celeron 2.5Ghz as a file server with Fedora Core 10 but have to upgrade the Hard drive which will happen in a couple of weeks time with the memory upgrade which will sit in the Lounge room I have a wireless Modem router and going to add another PC (dual core 939 AMD) which will be used as the main computer. Will the easiest way be wireless lan or gigabit nic?

Depends on your definition of easiest.

Wireless is easy if cables across your house is a problem, but it suffers from lower data rates then even 100MBit ethernet

Wired, once the cables are run, is sooo much better in my opinion, but it can be a pain to run wires

Wireless also suffers from needing security (MAC filtering, WPA encryption, etc..) which at best is a hassle, at worst adds a bit of latency and lowers data rates even further

My advice would be if you need data rates over a few MBits, run a cable, an afternoon of work in my opinion at least is well worth the payoff

In my setup anyway, wireless to wireless, with the router across the house, I got ~3MBits, wireless to wired, ~10MBits, double that if you're close to the router. On pure 100MBit Ethernet I get around 60-70MBits

So take your pick, it all depends on your definition of easy.
