networking a printer on Vista with XP

I recently bought a new desktop with Vista 64bit. I turned on all the sharing properties on my the Vista side and when I try to add a printer on my laptop with XP it finds the workgroup and the computer but it doesnt show the printer. Also, when I am on my Vista machine it shows my laptop but when I try to access it it comes up with an error window saying I cannot access the network. Please help I am getting frustrated and have been working at this for many hours and tried everything.
 
You should have your username/password from your vista machine on the XP machine and vice versa. Make sure the printer is set to shared on your vista machine I'm assuming and the permissions are set.
