networking question

I just moved into a newly constructed house with the ethernet cables all built into the wall so every room has an ethernet port under the phone jack. I have a modem which connects to a 4 port router which has the 4 LAN ports spread throughout the house. I already set up a wireless access point on the first floor in the den. Currently i have another wireless router set up on the second floor in the living area. I have heard this is wrong so i'm hoping to change it. Can anyone give me any suggestions? I need both wireless and wired so that laptops and iphone will have wifi while my desktop and xbox will get wired connections. do i need a switch? or another accesspoint? or can i just keep using my current setup?

THANKS!

Well, what ever device gives out IP addresses should be connected to all of the ethernet ports in the house. If that's your modem then you should connect your modem to a switch and then all of the house ports to the switch, no point in using a router when you don't need one. Then for your wireless setup two access points will do nicely. Run the same SSID on both but run a significantly different channel. That way you can roam around your house and effectively transfer between the two access points relatively smoothly. (about the same as if you disconnected from one port on a switch and connected to a different one quickly) things like instant messenger might disconnect but other things should keep working.
