Networking & Servers 101?

Hi everyone, i was just wondering if it would be possible for some of the members that are knowledgeable in networking and servers to get together and make a 101 as i noticed we don't have one. I realize the amount of work this can take but i think that it would be a great benefit.

EDIT: Possibly something along the lines of what each component does (router, switch, firewall, etc), and maybe a small guide on how to setup a home network along with some security precautions.

I wish we could get 101's in different areas such as motherboards or things like that. I wish I could help you out.:(

Me too that's why I'm trying to see who knows enough to do a 101 on networking & servers, maybe someone could just write a short guide/explanation for what the home user should know.

Okay glad to hear it, what fields of networking/servers do you know about?

Awesome stuff dude! I'd like as much as you can get me, it's full of information and as they say the more the better. :D

Give me another year of college and I'll be able to contribute lol.

Taking a network specialist course, I only know subnetting, different types of cabling, etc.. Nothing a home user would ever use.

Better late then never, i always say. Do you get notes like the ones that zombine posted? If so maybe you could upload them, they could be of some use.

But really guys we need a CF 101, come on there has to be more people that know about networking or/and servers!
