Hello everyone, I recently upgraded my Geforce 3 w/ 128 mb of ram to a geforce 6800 with 128 mb of ram (made by MSI) for the sole purpose of playing higher end games. To my dismay, I found that I am getting the same FPS with my geforce 6800 that I did with my geforce 3! What is wrong? I am getting between 35 and 50 fps for CS:S and HL2 and it is really making me mad b/c I spent all that $$ with no improvement. Sure, I can crank up the reflections of the game but sometimes the video lags. Help plz!

Oh yes, I did use riva tuner to overclock my geforce3 but it wont let me overclock my 6800... is there any way for me to do so without the horrible program that comes with the card?

btw, I have 1.5 gigs of DDR ram and a 2.4 ghz p4 processer if that helps... maybe its my PSU? I have like 3 power cords comiong out of it and they go all wild connecting to fans, CD rom drives, HDDs, floppy, mobo, etc.

Get a benchmarking utility and then run it with the GeForce 3 and then swap it for the 6800. You should see a difference. If not, Nvidia offers a great deal of advanced power and graphics setting such as high preformance and over best quality, tinker around with this a bit.

Well you shouldnt just be "swapping" trhe new video card ... the newer card wont be operating properly without the newer drivers :)

my GeForce 6800 Ultra took some time to get just right.....I was only getting like 10 more FPS than my GeForce 5900xt before tinkering with it.....be patient..... :)
