New AMD Socket?

By the time you wait, they will have a new socket out, this is an endless (supposedly) cycle, you just have to figure out what is the best time to buy. I wonder when we will get to Thz. :)
Ill say about the end of 2009.

So there is a socket f coming out now? Damn, I'm no rich kid so it's hard for me to upgrade. I've been wanting my dad to approve of me upgrading for about 3 years! My sig shows it! How long do you think the 940's will stay in style?? I hate my computer right now... but then again it's so hard to go buy a $1,500+ computer when something 2 months later is the new thing to have... Ugh! Love technology, hate its price :(

dont worry: the way hardware is advancing, software that can fully utilize it is virtually nonexistent. for instance, 64 bit technology. most of the things you do are going to be on 32 bit, well...at least for a while. so the only thing you have to worry about is when the software starts to take a toll on your hardware...because at this rate, the newest hardware is more than well equipped for the newest software.

When is the socket f suppose to debut? I'm thinking of just waiting a little longer for the socket 940 and for nVidia's and ATi's new card...

That way I can beat my friend's computer right now! :D

sigh here we go again

Then I'm starting to wonder what you define as bullshit, because the X2 certainly doesn't seem to fall into that catagory in my book.
What? I never said the X2 was bull$hit. No one did.
It DOES outperform Pentium equivalents in almost every test - the benchmarks show it.
I agree the X2 is great slab, and can hold well againts intel in the benchies (which are hardly the best example of real world performance, and anyone worth their salt wont rely on them). But that is not what you said to justify my first comment. Re-read what you wrote.
Even the 4200+, the lower end model competes with, and outperforms the Extreme Edition 840 in several instances; the 4800+ destroys everything else just about across the board, while also producing less heat and consuming less power. To sum it up AMD outperformed Pentium in this round, and thats not bullshit.
No one said otherwise, although the review was amd biased, hitting amd strong spots multiple times, and shying away from traditional intel sweet spots.

Being opinionated is fine, and having your camp is also fine, but I didn't start this thread as a flaming arena
I would hardly say you got burnt, and if you make far outwing statements then be prepared to be called up on them. You were called up for this:
(the AMD x2 line gets about 10%-30% more performance per dollar than the Intel dual core processors)
which i assumed you had lifted from some poorly written review and puked out, but now seems to be of your own making.
as a moderator you should show responsibility and keep such comments to yourself.
My role is to [attempt] to prevent false information being put on the board and infecting the minds of those that read it and dont know any better. I would call anyone on something i knew to be false and/or exaggerated. As i would expect to be called my up self.
If i was super nice to be nice to everyone i corrected i would be forever writing posts as long as this one.
Now lets all play nice or this thread may be relegated :)
