New Bios...

Hi,
I suppose I'm a newbie to overclocking and I have a Pentium 4 Northwood 2.5GHz in my old machine. I had a look in the bios but all the features etc are not appearing/locked down eg the FSB. This means I can't overclock it via upping the FSB because of the bios.

Is it possible without buying a new motherboard to upgrade the BIOS so I could overclock via the BIOS, if so what bios can I get which is overclockable without buying a new mobo?

Thanks,

Oder

Yeah it is its a packard bell im afraid to say but if i change/ugrade the bios it would be overclockable.

But I need to find out an overclockable bios without upgrading the motherboard.

it is doubtfull that you will be able to find a bios with those options enabled. All bios updates released by packard bell will have options hacked out. Dont try and use a different bios other than the ones from the manufacturer as your system may become screwed.

If I bought a new gaming type motherboard with a overclockable bios and replaced that with the old mobo would that be okay.

sure but you will need to ensure that the new motherboard i compatible with all you stuff, i.e cpu socket type, agp/pci/pci-e, sata/ide, PSU pinout

All need to be considered. Its not as hard as it sounds
