new board boots automatically?? help

I bought a new gigabyte GA-8I865GME motherboard the other day and I put the cpu and ram in connected the cpu fan also, the strange thing is when you turn the psu on at the wall the board boots without you pressing the on switch, but it doesn’t display anything on screen.
So I pulled out the ram stick and tried again but there was no error beeps and I think there should be.

Could this be a faulty motherboard?

Its not in a case I bridged the pins on the board it’s not the power button, I’m more worried about it not giving me any error beeps and not even turning on the monitor.

Faulty board to be

btw i do have a working speaker pluged in:D

My other gigabyte board (that i'm using now) does, if you take anything it needs out e.g. the ram it does short little beeps continuously and flashes the power light.

I put the minimum in to see if it boots:
Main power plug and 12v as well, ram, cpu, speaker, keyboard, monitor and cpu fan are also connected.

When I turn the power on at the wall the board automatically starts the cpu fan starts the lights flash as normal on the keyboard the right lan orange light continually flashes but there is no signal to the monitor so it doesn’t turn on and the monitor light keeps flashing.

2 things are strange here:
1. no beep even if I take out ram or cpu.
2. the board boots without pressing the power button.

Am I missing something here?

It maybe a bios setting where it will turn on when you turn the PSU on of which changing the setting will prevent this occuring. It maybe under the bios power settings or the equivilant.

@ bumblebee_tuna That maybe a bios setting but I can’t get into the bios as I said there is no signal to turn on the monitor.

Is it possible that it needs to be in a case (maybe it needs to be earthed)

Is the monitor plugged into the motherboard, or into a GPU?
If it is, move it onto the motherboard, as the drivers wont have been installed yet. Also, if the monitor output is dual, have you go it pluged into the primary socket?

Yes I have tried a graphics card and the onboard vga and still nothing
I’m taking it back the next time I have a chance.

1: it boots automatically
2: there are no beeps
3: no signal to monitor

All fixed up:)
I took it back they tested it and said it was faulty out of the box and they replaced the board on the spot no questions asked.
