New Build Advice?

Alright so I want to do something different.
I bought the system in my Sig at least 2.5 years ago.

Specifics...
Price isnt really a big deal, but nothing crazy.
I want an intelligent build. I want you to tell me that certain parts aren't worth the extra money for the tiny bit of performance, that kind of thing.

I run Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Alot of ram would be good, but don't tell me to put 24 gigs in the thing if its not going to make it any faster.
Like I said, price isn't a big deal, but remember be smart about it. Why buy product A when you could get the same or close for alot less from product B.

This is a gaming machine, but my current setup is loud....is there any thing out there now that's quiet? My 4870 reminds me of my old xbox360, hot and loud.
The computer will be setup in a RAID configuration(what ever runs the drives the fastest).

I wont be needing anything but the box itself. No monitor, no keyboard, no mouse, ect, ect.

I'm a bit off today so forgive me for not wanting to think or put thought into this post. I'm sorry if im all over the place, just let me know what you think. Mainly I just need advice on the graphics card and hard drives. I haven't been following the prices and benchmarks lately so I know nothing. BTW...feels good to be back.
 
General price range at all? For now I'll go with $1200 as that can get you a respectable machine.

edit: So is the case. Do you need a case? can you not reuse the 900 you have now? If not, take a look at this.

You should only need 4 gigs of RAM, maybe 6 if you do video editing or something like that. By the time your computer could utilize 8 gigs of RAM DDR4 could be around the corner.
