I searched the forum, came across similar problems, but never with brand new builds and components.
URGENT! I just built my PC. Powered it up for the first time, focusing on the CPU HEATSINK, because this is one thing that NEEDS to be running. Everything seemed to boot fine, and the CPU heatsink started to spin and then stopped. Before I watched any more, I turned off the PSU. The system was on for about 3-4 seconds I would say.
My CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 ghz (E4500).
My Heatsink: Rosewill - THIS
I've heard that Core 2 Duo's shut off automatically when they get too hot. I don't really want to risk it though. Can I test the CPU Heatsink without risking the CPU.
Is it ever normal for a heatsink to not spin for a second at startup? Any way to troubleshoot this problem? I really need to get this commuter running ASAP as it has my HDD in it (this isn't my computer I'm on).
Please Help. Thanks!
