So this is my basic plan-

CPU-AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Brisbane 2.3GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor

Motherboard-BIOSTAR TFORCE 550 Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 550 MCP ATX AMD Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138026

RAM-Patriot 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220088

Video-EVGA 256-P2-N550 -T2 GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130073

1. Does everything look compatible?
2. Will the video card make a huge difference over the built in motherboard video?
3. Will my current 480W power supply be enough?
4. Any better suggestions for any particular thing?

I am not the best at figuring this stuff out, but I do have a basic idea. Any help would be appreciated!

I would go with the 7600GT.... I would also not go with the 1650 Pro on the basis that it's just an overclocked version of the 1600 Pro with an increased price.... The 7600 GT also has GDDR3 over GDDR2......

I personal would also not got with Gigabyte.... It's not necessarily a bad brand but I have had bad experiences with them.....

Final build?

Alright, I liked the changes and here is my final build plan:

CPU-AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Brisbane 2.3GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16819103776

Motherboard-GIGABYTE GA-M61P-S3 Socket AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 ATX AMD Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813128034

Video Card-ASUS EAX1650PRO Gamer Edition/HTD/256M Radeon X1650PRO 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814121040

Memory-Patriot 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820220088

Any final thoughts?? The total comes to $450 which seems pretty decent for what I am getting.

I think that is a pretty solid build, I was giving suggestions. As long as you have your own justification buying what I said, meaning you realize it will suit your needs or perhaps suit them better.

Just a thought with the memory, if you get 2 - 512 sticks you can take advantage of the dual channel memory for some performance increase and get 2 more later on. Unless you planned on upgrading later with another gig.

If you could spring the extra bucks this is a good upgrade for a videocard...

I like this video card...
You're paying a premium for an extra few MHz here and there as compared to the 1600Pro :)

The 7600 GT also has GDDR3 over GDDR2......
Yeah but thats not an issue unless you really wanna start 'clockin the modules anyways

the 1650 pro has ddr3...
Not that it matters the least.
