New Build for Games - Please Check It Over

Hi again, everyone. Have finally got my new parts list sorted out. Please be aware that I am open to changes to the components, but they must not exceed the £925 mark. I need the rest of the £1000 to spend on a PSU for all of this.

Firstly, here is the parts list.

Now, I need a PSU for this machine. The connections it requires are as follows:

  • Minimum 600W (higher if you think it's needed)
  • 4 Pin ATX 12V Connector
  • 24 Pin Motherboard Connector
  • 4 SATA Connectors
  • PCI Express 2.0 x16 (or power for the GPU - didn't know what this was!)
  • 4 Pin Molex (for the value case fan - to be mounted as a side fan)
  • 4 Connectors for the fans supplied with the Antec 900 (I don't know what they are, but I assume they are molex - someone please check for me!)

If you can find a PSU that has all of these attributes, I would be extremely grateful. I can't find one anywhere that is available to ship to the UK.

Lastly, but most importantly, what do you think of the build? I am pretty sure the components work together, but what do you think? Have I made a mistake? I would also be grateful for any changes that you think would increase the quality of the build.

My total budget is £1000. This must include the PSU (not budgeted above - as I haven't found one yet). £10 each way wouldn't make too much of a difference.

Thanks in advance for any and all help that any of you can offer.

Looks good but I would change the cpu to E8400 and same some cash. Get the samsung dvd (203b if possible) and hdd drives.

If your sig is accurate and you allready have a QX6850 I wouldnt go to either of dual cores.I dont think you will see much a difference in performance plus its quad so it will be good for future builds

I was wondering the same thing when I saw his signature. He allready has a better rig.Even with the new Ati's out it would still be debateable to drop the 3870 X2.I guess after the 4870 X2 comes out and after awhile it drops in price some it might be worthwhile upgrading.Personally I would never upgrade for less than 40% more performanace.Just not worth the money I dont think.

You guys just need to answer his Freaking ?. You guys ever thought that he could have a second PC.

Its not for a replacement. And Sho95 - thank you. It will be my 7th pc in my house. I have the one in my signature as my main one, plus loads of extras, that I use for various tasks.

I have one that runs a game server on a 2mb symmetrical SDSL connection and 4 laptops that I just use for school (play Crysis in english, lol).

Anyway, thanks for the ideas about the new machine. It won't be used as much, but it's pretty much a backup. Plus, when I have people over at the next LAN party, I wanna kick their asses! I can't do this if someone's PC is broke, so I'll have a spare too!

I'm gonna update the GPU on my main rig too, but I wanna do that when a 1gb 4870X2 comes out. Currently, I can only find 512mb 4870X2's for shipping to the UK. If anyone knows where I could get the 4870X2 from, please post it here.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll work them in and post back here when I'm done. Thanks.
