Im looking to build a computer mostly for school work but some gaming will be done. I mostly want a computer that can multi-task very well and is very fast.

Anyway, like most im doing this on a budget. So im trying to spend money where it matters and settle on other things that i can just upgrade later.

Also, i plan to be running vista home premium. I know its not anything spectacular but im just looking for a well rounded good preformer.

WHAT DO YOU THINK???

Case: (i know the PSU isnt great but it will get me through i hope)

Awesome System, Looks Sweet, I've used that cooler master case before, it's real good, take out the side air duct and throw in a 80mm case fan in its place and you should be very well off.
I'd also go for a lite-on drive, the lg's have mixed reviews.

Also take a look at this video card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130086, I really like that one, a bit faster than the one you have listed.

do i really need that much PSU?

how do you determine the W needed to run a system well?

what do you reccomened?

Im not quite sure how soon you needthis computer, Intel is comming out with new 45nm processors either in Nov. or Jan (i keep getting confused). These processors will be faster and more powerful and the current processors should (hopefully) drop in price.

I would recommend waiting until their release if possible.

you determine the wattage as compared to lesser systems, or pretty much by eye, or by word of mouth.

now, if you look at my system, i sure as hell dont need 700W, and neither do you. 500W would be the minimum i would reccomend for your computer, and something like an antec or a Corsair HX520 would be great. if you cant afford the high-end PSU's like the Corsair or something like my OCZ, the less-flashy antecs are one of the few solutions.

watts is only a factor, and not the most important. You need to be considering amps on the 12v rails.
Ceewi's recommendations are your best bet

ok i guess i can up the psu. but 500 or 700?

And im not sure how this psu will hurt the componets?

Also, how does everything else look?

I've seen plenty of systems, In fact i've built systems, using stock 460 watt PSUs that ran core 2's and 8600 gts, along with 2 hdd's and 2 disk drives, and a soundblaster live with no problems at all. you don't need anywhere near 700 watts. pretty much any 500 watt PSU will deliver more than enough power for those components.

Are you guys suggesting a 750W PSU for an 8600GTS?

That Antec PSU will be fine, just make sure it is Antec and not re-branded junk. The 8600GTS is a good early DX10 card, I wish I would have gotten that instead of blowing $550 on something that I really don't need. 8800GT would be the highest I would go.

The E6750 is good and easily overclockable to ~3.4Ghz. You don't really need that RAM, the regular XMS2 does just as well, I don't even know why Corsair makes that, if you want a little higher performance go with Dominator. And, Go with EVGA as the video card manufacturer.

I revised it to some better companies and some better price/performance ratios products. Hope you like this....

I'm not a pro but I have the antec sonata (the original) works pretty cool, got alot of comments when i was first putting i through being built up by the shop, so it seems like its a good/popular case. very good for ventilation/airflow so i've heard(my fan broke down on the mobo but becuase of the case they said it'd be fine :S) , so i would reocmmend the antec sonata 3 :D

only because i dont see how sonata 2 and 3 are different form the original looks exactly same :S althoguh there's probably some small differences eg: the bigger PSU? :S
