I am debating whether to go for a i7 build or stay with a dual core such as E8400. I priced two different builds on newegg, both would have the same case, gpu, power supply, etc. So is it worth it to go for an i7 build or just stay with 775?
As this will be my first windows machine and I plan on using it for some gaming (nothing hardcore), CAD programs, and photoshop programs. Most importantely I dont want to wait, I want fast render times, etc.
So would I better off spending my money on a i7 build or a 775 and upgrading later?
This is what I had in mind.
Parts: i7
Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz
G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58
Parts: 775
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-UD3P LGA 775 Intel P45
