New build: Issues with Crysis

I really hate that my first post is one asking for help, but I'm kind of stumped on this. I'm not new to the message board scene, just new to this site.

I just built my first computer, here are the specs:

PSU: 480W that came with my NZXT case link (looks like an el cheapo, initially thought this was my problem, lack of power, but now that thought has almost been dropped)
Motherboard: ASUS M4A77TD AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard link
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache link
GPU: ASUS Radeon HD 4650 1GB 128-bit DDR2 link
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 link
Hard Drive: Samsung 500GB 7200RPM link
Fans: (3) 120mm and (1) 140mm
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (that might be pi rate)

When I built this computer, I was expecting to play Crysis on very high settings with ease (foolish of me to think so? maybe, idk). When I installed things, I had them on Very High. I was getting probably 7fps. So I bumped it down to High settings. I was getting, oh, maybe 12fps. Better, yes, but still unplayable. Finally I get down to Medium settings, things start looking like butt, but it is playable (no pun intended, heck that isn't even a pun). Even on Medium settings, things will slow down at times if there is a lot going on on the screen.

The NZXT case has plenty of cooling to it. I'm 99% sure nothing is overheating. The 4 case fans work flawlessly together. The only thing that gets even luke warm is my video card, and that's when I've been playing Crysis for awhile (on medium).

I know for sure that I have the most recent driver updates for my video card, just went to the ATI website and downloaded it yesterday.

Sorry for the long post, and I apologize even more for it being my first one (first impressions are everything), but is there anything you guys see wrong here? Too small of a power supply? Some stupid little setting that could be off? Or is my computer just not powerful enough to run the game on Very High? I know it takes a lot of computer to run Crysis..... but it's not impossible, right?

Your graphics card is not very good...

I had a 4670, and it play crysis on med. 1650/1050 with like 30ish fps.

Bumped up to a 250GTS, and i can play with everything on high, with 2AA.


Upgrade you vid card to atleast 250gts/ATI5770.

I personally would go for a 5850, if thats in the budget.
 
I appreciate the fast response, and a kind one at that.

I had a feeling that it could be the graphics card. I'll have to look into those cards you suggested. 250gts..... is that a brand of video card, or some type of spec on the video card? I'm assuming ATI5770 is the model number of it or whatever? Just like mine is a Raedon HD 4650?

Lack of GPU power. I have a 5770 that runs it on very high settings very well so if you're on a budget (the 5770 is about $165-$185) you would be happy with this card.
 
If you are on a budget, the 4850 is a great card, so is the 4870. If you don't have a budget, then get the 5770. yes, those are the model numbers on the cards.

And don't worry about "stupid" posts ;)
 
Gah, I've had this computer for 3 days and I'm already upgrading! Oh well, I knew the upgrades would start soon enough lol.

I appreciate everyone's help with this.
 
If you do get the 5770(that ASUS one is good), then you will probably need to upgrade your power supply. Wait, nope. Newegg's wattage calculator tells me otherwise. You should be good. :D

No, your right sir, he could pull it off with a 4650, but with anything over that, hes gonna need 500+ quality psu...

LOL, dont worry about the whole upgrading thing, i upgraded my gpu w/i 2 months of buying the parts haha, and psu, and soo on...


PSU: i have an antec, i would recommend it, its great, good price.
GPU: the 5770, would be great, saffire or asus, thats up to you, both are good quality cards, its just the warrenty that differs.
