New Build - Looking for Power

Hi guys, I'm building a new PC from scratch. Have done this before, but case included PSU and board. Want more flexibility this time, so building completely from start. I got $2200 USD or £1100 to build it. So far, all components are from Ebuyer - they're a friend. Components cannot be from Newegg, because I live in the UK. The thing I need is a case, preferably one from Ebuyer. Must have front mounted USB 2.0, Firewire and Audio ports, and be black to match with everything else, and desktop environment. With the graphics card, I'm going to get a DVI to VGA adaptor, and run dual display with the two Samsung monitors (great for games, 2ms refresh!). Before you make any suggestions on what to change (apart from case), could you have a look at what I've got, and see if that's any good. It must have at least 1tb internal storage, so thanks.

BTW - titles marked (x2), prices include both units.

Yes, that is the best bang for the buck card you can get at the moment, and will max out pretty much any curent game (apart form crysis )

I personally will not go for AMD, unless you are buying in April for those CPU with bugs already fixed.

CPU: E8400

MB: GA-P35-DS3P
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132266

GPU: go for a 9600GT instead

TV turner: the one you choosen is for not support digital TV.
Go for HVR series

OS: go for 64bit

Thanks for all the assistance guys. For now, I'm going with 32 bit because of the compatibility issues, but don't worry - i'll also have a 64-bit version on hand to install when the program writers/authors finally bridge the gap. A lot of the games I have are not supported on 64 bit, so I'm going with 32 till that changes. Thanks for the advice about moving to Intel, but have had an Intel desktop before. Not very reliable (and it was Dell!), but had an AMD desktop for 6 years and its still going strong (only upgraded the RAM!). So, yes. I am now an AMD supporter, but I haven't abandoned Intel altogether. They run my Core 2 Duo laptop (Asus V1JPAK028E). I'm going to make some enquiries about the graphics card that I'll need for what I want.

Btw, daisymtc, I cannot have the TV tuner/capture card you recommended, because it will not be compatible with the system I am building. On the Ebuyer page, it specifically states that the card was exclusively designed for Media Centre Edition, and I have been told by my local PC store (where I was looking at some cases) that the card will ABSOLUTELY NOT WORK with Windows Vista (which is a prerequisite - I'm looking for a PC with all the newest stuff). Any more comments/suggestions on changes or anything would be greatly appreciated.

I got $2200 USD or £1100

1100 Euros is about 1700 USD...

Edit: Just because one desktop wasnt reliable doesn't mean the brand is bad. ATM, AMD is getting thrashed by Intel. Its just the way it is.

True about what you say, but I have had several friends with Intel desktops of poor quality. I'll stick by their laptops, definitely - processing power and low battery consumption, they're practically godlike (but they first need a Quad Core 2.5ghz laptop!). AMD is staying in my desktops (and btw, I have 3 desktops - plus the build - and 8 laptops, so Intel is more supported than AMD!) I was going to give Intel another try, but they didn't have a true Quad, they were all Core 2 Duo Quads (2 core 2's, not one quad). Sorry Intel, but AMD won this round.

Hey guys, I have another question here. I have just realized that I have not yet decided on a case. I have £30 to spend on one, but if there is a case that I like more (anything upto £60 absolute maximum!), I'll get that one. I really don't care who makes it, but it must have at least one 120mm fan (can be seperate, but must not exceed cost stated). Please post up the links here, and bear in mind, that I live in the UK and cannot buy from newegg. If possible, post the links for the products on the Ebuyer site. This is what I have so far.

Thanks Gogey. I'm good with all the internal components and stuff, but its the cases I just can't seem to find anything that suits. That one you have suggested looks very good, and is just over my "want to spend" so I'm happy to pay that. Looks like a great case, so I'm gonna get that. Cheers for your help. Btw, I do not believe the Q6600 is "fake", I just don't want to put one in this machine. I'm building one for a friend soon, so I'll keep that in mind as a candidate.

Don't worry, he won't be. I heartily agree with Goey. The Q6600 is overall a better buy. The Phenom still has problems with OCing and AM2+ motherboards just aren't as cheap as Quad-supported LGA775 mobos...

Not to mention that a BIOS flash will 80% of the time not make a AM2 mobo "Phenom"-supported.
