I'm planning on a new build outside of the box. I will be using liquid cooling. My question is, will I need to have the stock fan installed on the CPU to run MemTest, and then remove it?
If it's a custom loop you could probably use the stock hsf while doing a leak test. Personally I would just build the system into the case and not worry about phasing it in.
I'm sorry, I should of worded my question a little better.
Do I need to have my stock fan cooling the CPU while I run MemTest on my memory?
Why I'm asking is that I do plan to install a Corsair H110i liquid cooler during my build and would save me some time not to have to install then uninstall the stock fan that comes with my CPU.
You need to have something cooling the cpu whenever the system is on. You will overheat the cpu without cooling while running memtest. Install your water cooler and then test your ram.
