New build, new issues

Old rig died and decided to pony up and build a new one. Specs as follows:

Asus M4A79XTD EVO
AMD Phenom 2 X4 955 Black
XFX Radeon HD 5770
2x2gig G.Skill Ripjaw

Here's the problem. While playing games, and some more frequently than others (I'll explain), I experience brief glimpses of vertical or lines, all of the same colour. In addition to this, my monitor often flickers as if it's being switched between inputs or is losing it's signal ever so quickly. I have recieved errors stating that my displayer drivers have stopped operating properly at times. Lastly, I'll get game crashes and have experienced 1 BSOD (Well, it was a Pink SOD)

What I had done to remedy the situation had been update my graphics drivers, which seemed to eliminate all issues in one game but they still remain in others. Tried switching my VGA to the second appropriate slot, no fix. I've tried swapping ram slots, no fix. It seems to happen slightly more frequently if the ambient temperature is higher than normal.

One last thing to note, I often run games at a resolution higher than the native of my monitor.

Anyone able to help pinpoint the issue here? Thanks in advance, and I do apologize if this may be the wrong section.

What are the temps. running at?

Running at a higher resolution then the monitor supports could be one of the problems.
