New build - not booting up - please help

This is the test build outside of the case. I have the CPU, cpu heatsink, ram, power supply, and monitor hooked up. When I short the power button pegs, the CPU fan spins for a second and then stops. I never see anything on the screen. What should I do?

Is your RAM in all the way? ( I've had this problem before)

Reseat everything, ram GPU etc. Check for bent pins on CPU.

I reseated everything. There are no bent pens in the CPU socket. The ram is firmly clicked in. Thank you for responding to me tonight. I'm kind of panicking. I need this to be working by tomorrow.

I forgot to plug in the smaller motherboard power. It's working now. Thank you
