New build not working

My new build does not power up. None of the fans startup. At first, they would only work for two seconds, then die. I believe everything is secure, but either a piece of hardware is bad, there is a compatibility issue, or I have something plugged into the wrong place.

Is there a minimum setup that I can try to get the fans working? Also, below are the parts that I have. Are there any issues with them working together? Thanks in advance.

It should all be compatible. Make sure that you have plugged in the 4 pin ATX12V cable, and that you've correctly installed the stand-offs to prevent the motherboard from grounding on the case.

Could you please be more specific on this point? I did not receive any standoffs, only spacers. My motherboard is resting on four spacers (I believe my motherboard has six holes).

Also, initially I did not have the 4 pin plug in the motherboard but later I plugged it in and still it did not work.

This morning I took the motherboard out of the case and it still does not power up. Is there a way for me to power on the motherboard without using the case's power button (shorting a jumper?)

That should be fine, so long as the board is not screwed directly into the case.

Yes, you can short the two pins that the power switch plugs into with a screwdriver, or similar. If everything's plugged in correctly you may have defective hardware.

Take things out one at a time to see if that changes anything. If your computer still doesn't POST then it might be your motherboard. I just had to send a DOA back to newegg that had the same problem.

I got my new build to work. I took my motherboard out of the case and put it back in. One difference I did was I had only used four washers to support my motherboard but this time I used all six. Thanks for the suggestions on the hardware and your help.
